Portrait Drawing for Beginners
June 25 - July 23, 2025
Over the span of five weeks, you'll embark on a journey to master the art of portraying the human form on paper. Through our sessions, you'll acquire essential skills for accurately observing and depicting facial proportions and features. We'll explore the intricacies of light and shadow, discovering how charcoal can be wielded to imbue your portraits with depth and realism. Tailored for beginners, this class provides a nurturing space where you can refine your abilities and ignite your imaginative spark.
Beginning Figure Drawing
July 28 - August 25, 2025
In this 5-week figure drawing class you will develop your skills in capturing the human form from the live model. With instructor guidance you will learn the fundamental techniques of figure drawing and have the opportunity to practice through short gesture drawings as well as more considered drawings. By the end of the course, you will have gained a foundation in figure drawing and improved your ability to capture the essence of the human form.
Portrait Painting for Beginners
July 30 - August 27, 2025
Throughout this course, students will delve into the rich tradition of portrait painting, honing your skills in color mixing and brushwork. Under the guidance of the instructor, you'll acquire strategies for organizing visual information, values and color temperature. With the dynamic presence of a live model, you'll explore the interplay of light and shadow, bringing depth and vitality to your portraits. This class provides a supportive environment to develop your artistic voice and master the timeless art of portraiture.
