Beginning Portrait Drawing
Foundation Oil Painting
September 15 - November 19, 2025
This foundational painting class is designed for absolute beginners. You will start with the basics of oil painting, covering essential materials like paints, grounds, supports, mediums, and brushes. The course includes guidance on selecting and using these supplies through classroom demonstrations and exercises. Students will begin with black-and-white value studies, progress to grisaille studies, warm/cool studies, limited palette work, and ultimately advance to full-color painting. Both direct and indirect methods of oil painting will be explored.
Foundation Figure Drawing
September 16 - November 20, 2025
Start your figure drawing journey with the first class in our three-part series designed specifically for beginners. In this introductory course, you’ll learn the core principles of drawing the human figure from life, focusing on gesture, proportion, and basic structural forms. Working from live models, you'll develop foundational skills in observation and mark-making that will serve as the groundwork for more advanced techniques introduced in later sessions. Whether you're completely new to figure drawing or looking to revisit the essentials, this class offers a structured, encouraging environment to build your confidence and prepare you for the next stages in the series.
